Random Cuteness From My Day Off

Our Day with Matthew

My sister-in-law watches Madelynn Monday through Thursday, so when we have the opportunity to return the favor, we take it.

Matthew loves his cousin Madelynn. This is him when he first got to our home:

They play really well together.

Just some random cuteness:

She's Trying

We had a neonatal clinic follow up last Tuesday. They informed me Madelynn is only measuring at a 4 to 5-month old because she cannot sit by herself. Scott, the OP/TP person gave some suggestions to help her catch up, but nothing really substantial.

Thankfully Becca came over later that night, and told me Madelynn is measuring fine. The OP/TP only look at her adjusted age, not the fact that she didn't come home until she was 2-months adjusted age, and didn't get any exercise while in the NICU. Becca showed me some exercises, and helpful tips on how to get Madelynn to sit up right.

One of the suggestions was to put her in the corner and let the wall assist her. It gives her an idea of how her posture should be.

Today I let her sit in the crib while I got her bath ready. She did so well sitting upright.

She reached out and played with her mobile and flower without falling, showing her core is getting stronger.

Some day we know she will be caught up. We are thrilled with the progress she is making, and could not ask for anything more.

Bumbo

We finally broke down and bought Madelynn a bumbo. She loves watching TV in it.
I will post more photos later, but here are a couple from my phone.

Once again, another expensive chew toy. :o)

Madelynn is Mobile

Madelynn now rolls to get around. At first when she'd roll onto her stomach from her back she would cry until she made it back onto her back. Now she doesn't, and she is getting sneaky. I thought it was a bit quiet in the living room while I was cooking dinner a couple of nights ago, and checked on Madelynn. I found she had rolled over to the entertainment center, and she was chewing on a Wii wire. Looks like it's time to get a TV stand with doors.

I tried to get pictures of her rolling, but she would see the camera and stop. I took some of her holding her head up, and what she looked like after the roll.

I love her little tuff of strawberry blond hair.

Another Sunday, Another Geocaching Adventure

We headed back to spot where we had been unsuccessful in finding a cache the week before. We were still unsuccessful. I think until we get a real GPS, we will be unable to locate it.

Maddie had fallen asleep while we were looking for the elusive cache.

We decided to move on. About a 1/2 mile away was another cache. On our way I could smell cows. Jeremy just looked at me weird when I had mentioned it. We finally spotted some down the road. Never doubt a girl from Whidbey when she says she smells cows!

We came across the area for the next cache. It was in the parking lot of a medical facility. Thankfully with it being a Sunday there were no muggles (Geocachers stole a Harry Potter term, I know.) to see us snooping through the trees. We found this one fairly quickly as it was a pretty large cache.

Can you see it?

We started heading toward our next cache, further southeast when it started to rain.

We had to cut our time short, as thunder started rolling in. We had already been at it for a couple of hours (there was long stretches of nothing between caches), though we were still amped to keep going. There was on final cache in the direction of home so we were able to grab that. By this time it had been raining pretty hard, and it was time to hustle home.

Madelynn was such a good sport the whole time. We lucked out with this one.

Teething?

Maddie has been showing signs of teething: Rubbing her gums on our fingers, chewing on everything in sight, etc. We decided to try giving her a biting cookie.

She didn't seem to like it, and we decided she was probably still too small to be chewing on it.
